Team Delta are confident of securing qualification for the 2026 World Teqball Championships as they prepare for the national qualifiers scheduled to hold in Aba, Abia State, from October 29 to 31.
Chairman of the Delta State Teqball Association, Dick Marvel, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, with the athletes currently training at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba ahead of the competition. Coach Alex Akpoguma also said the players were in good shape and determined to earn places at the global tournament in Budapest, Hungary, scheduled for December 1 to 6.
The Delta squad comprises Nigeria’s number one-ranked player, Victor Oyemade, alongside Rejoice Jatau, Mikel Enebechukwu, Ogheneegare Ovuirooro, Efemena Ekeke and Miracle Edafe. Marvel said the athletes would approach the qualifiers with discipline, teamwork and determination as they seek to represent Nigeria on the international stage.

The association chairman commended the Delta State Government for its continued support for sports development under the MORE Agenda. He also praised the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, for supporting athletes, while acknowledging the Aba organisers and Nigeria Teqball Federation president, Habu Ahmed Gumel, for their contributions to the growth of the sport.
Marvel urged Deltans, sports enthusiasts, corporate organisations and other Nigerians to support the team ahead of the qualifiers. “Our ambition is to compete strongly in Aba, secure qualification, and proudly fly the Nigerian flag in Hungary. We understand the level of competition ahead, but we believe in our athletes, their preparation and their determination to succeed,” he said.
