Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the permanent transfer of Tosin Adarabioyo, with the Nigeria-eligible defender set to complete a late move across London before the transfer window closes.
The deal is worth a £7 million fixed fee plus add-ons, while personal terms between Adarabioyo and Tottenham have also been agreed. The defender has been given permission to undergo his medical with Spurs as the clubs work to complete the transfer.
Adarabioyo joined Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer in July 2024, signing a four-year contract. Before his time at Fulham, the centre-back developed at Manchester City and spent loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers. He made 41 appearances across all competitions during his first season at Chelsea, including 22 Premier League appearances, before featuring 16 times in the league last season.
The defender’s current market value is €16 million. He stands at 1.97m and primarily operates as a centre-back. Since joining Chelsea, he has made 70 appearances for the club, while his Premier League career includes more than 100 appearances across Chelsea and Fulham.
Adarabioyo had fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s arrival of Maxence Lacroix, leaving him outside the squad for the opening matches of the season. Tottenham moved for the defender as they prepare for the departure of Kevin Danso, who is set to join Sunderland.
The transfer will also mark the first permanent first-team move directly between Chelsea and Tottenham since Carlo Cudicini’s 2009 switch.
