Victor Osimhen began his 2026/27 Turkish Süper Lig season in impressive style, scoring twice for Galatasaray in a 2-2 home draw against the newly promoted Çorum, Naija Footy reports.
The Nigerian striker’s goals spared the champions from what might have been a disappointing loss at RAMS Park.
Galatasaray dominated much of the early stages but struggled to convert their chances into goals. Osimhen had a notable opportunity in the 15th minute when he met a cross, but his header narrowly missed the target. Before halftime, he also tested the goalkeeper with a shot, although the first half concluded without any goals.
The Super Eagles forward eventually broke the deadlock eight minutes into the second half. Osimhen raced towards goal after receiving a pass from Lucas Torreira and smoothly lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to give Galatasaray the lead. However, Çorum quickly responded with two goals, briefly turning the match in their favor.
Galatasaray got another chance when Çorum were reduced to 10 players in the 70th minute, yet the visitors persistently defended well. As the champions pushed hard for an equalizer, Osimhen came through once more, meeting Gabriel Sara’s corner in the 90th minute with a powerful header into the bottom corner.
Despite seven minutes of added time, Galatasaray couldn’t score a winning goal, as Çorum’s goalkeeper Marcos Felipe made several crucial saves. The draw is not the ideal start for the reigning champions, who now shift their focus to their next league match away against another newly promoted team, Erzurumspor.
