Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare scored his first official goal for Ajax as the Dutch club came from behind to defeat FC Sion 4-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off tie.
Arokodare came off the bench in the 72nd minute and made an immediate impact, netting Ajax’s third goal in the 74th minute. He later provided an assist for Davy Klaassen’s fourth goal in the 87th minute.
The Nigerian striker’s decisive contribution helped Ajax secure a strong advantage heading into the second leg. His performance also earned him the Man of the Match award.
The result puts the Dutch giants in a favourable position as they prepare to host the return fixture at the Johan Cruyff Arena next Thursday.
Arokodare will be looking to build on his impressive cameo as Ajax aim to secure a place in the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League.
