Nigerian striker Terem Moffi scored his first-ever Bundesliga goal as Hamburger SV produced a dramatic late comeback to defeat TSG Hoffenheim 3-2 away from home on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
Moffi struck in the 83rd minute at the PreZero Arena, heading home a cross from Miro Muheim to bring Hamburg level at 2-2 after trailing for much of the contest. The Nigerian forward had come off the bench in the 76th minute, replacing Martin Adeline, and needed just seven minutes to make a decisive impact.
Hoffenheim had looked on course for victory after building a 2-1 advantage, with Yussuf Poulsen and Bambasé Conté among the scorers in a match that also featured an own goal. However, the hosts’ task became more difficult in the 65th minute when Bernardo received a second yellow card and was sent off, leaving Hoffenheim to finish the match with 10 men.
With the numerical advantage, Hamburg pushed forward in search of an equaliser, and Moffi delivered when Muheim’s cross found him in the box. The goal gave the visitors renewed belief and shifted the momentum as the match entered its closing stages.
Hamburg completed the turnaround deep into stoppage time when Muheim found the net in the 90+4th minute, sealing a 3-2 away victory and sparking celebrations among the travelling supporters.
The comeback victory underlined Hamburg’s resilience, while Hoffenheim were left to rue Bernardo’s dismissal and their inability to protect their lead. Moffi’s first Bundesliga goal, meanwhile, could prove a significant moment for the Nigerian striker as he looks to establish himself in German football.
