Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed hope of extending his remarkable goalscoring run at Bursaspor after setting a new club record in the Turkish second division, Naijafooty.com reports.
The Nigerian forward made history by scoring in nine consecutive league matches, surpassing the previous club benchmark of eight successive games with a goal. His latest achievement has further underlined his importance to Bursaspor’s promotion ambitions.
Iheanacho has been in outstanding form since joining the Turkish outfit as a free agent from Scottish champions Celtic during the summer. His goals have helped Bursaspor make a strong start to the campaign as they seek a return to the Turkish top flight.
The former Leicester City forward has also delivered consistently in front of goal, combining his finishing ability with important contributions to the team’s attacking play. His latest scoring streak represents the longest of his career in league football.
Reflecting on his form, Iheanacho expressed satisfaction with his progress and optimism that he could maintain his scoring touch, saying he hoped the goals would continue to come.
His performances have also strengthened his standing with the Super Eagles, for whom he scored in Nigeria’s 3-3 international friendly draw against Russia earlier this month.
With Bursaspor targeting promotion, Iheanacho will be eager to sustain his impressive run and help the club achieve its season-long objective.
