CAF delegation currently inspecting Nigeria’s facilities for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards paid a courtesy visit to National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko in his office on Tuesday.
The visit forms part of the final assessment of venues and infrastructure ahead of the two major continental events. The 48th Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, while the CAF Awards will take place on Monday, December 7, at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.
During the meeting, Dikko reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering a seamless and successful hosting of both events.
“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the government of our country are very, very committed to hosting bespoke events that will underscore the capacity of our people in organisation and management of high-profile events. We will work together as one team to make sure this is delivered to the best that it could be,” Dikko said.
The inspection team, which earlier assessed facilities in Lagos, is evaluating key sites including airports, hotels and conference centres in both cities. The courtesy call underscores the close coordination between CAF and Nigerian sports authorities as preparations intensify.
