The 21st edition of the Lagos Supremacy Cup will provide another platform for emerging Nigerian footballers to showcase their talents to international scouts and football stakeholders when the competition kicks off in Lagos in November, Naijafooty.com reports.
The four-day grassroots tournament is scheduled to hold from November 9th to 12th at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, with eight teams expected to compete for the championship under the slogan, “8 Teams! One Supremo! One Trophy!”
Matches are expected to be played daily between 7am and 2pm as the participating sides battle for supremacy in a competition that has become associated with grassroots talent discovery and player development.
The organisers will once again adopt the tournament’s “No Offside!!! Operation Mark Your Man!!!” format, which is designed to produce an attacking brand of football while placing emphasis on direct competition, marking and goal-scoring opportunities.
Speaking on the 21st edition, a member of the organising committee, Wale Joseph, said the tournament had continued to evolve beyond a conventional grassroots competition, stressing its role in creating opportunities for young players.
“Lagos Supremacy Cup is more than a football tournament; it has become a movement. We have consistently created opportunities for young Nigerian players to showcase their abilities, and this year, we are taking that commitment to another level,” Joseph said.
The tournament is also expected to attract scouts and sporting directors from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, France, Brazil, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, giving participating players an opportunity to catch the attention of international football representatives.
With several grassroots teams expected to take part and international scouts scheduled to monitor the competition, the organisers believe the 2026 Lagos Supremacy Cup could once again serve as a pathway for promising players seeking professional opportunities beyond Nigeria.
