Former Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala has hailed Moses Usor after the LASK winger marked his Super Eagles debut with a stunning goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in Uyo on Friday, Naijafooty.com reports.
Usor was introduced in the second half of Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture and wasted little time making an impression, producing the decisive moment as the Super Eagles overturned an early deficit to claim all three points.
Madagascar had taken the lead in the 16th minute through Clément Couturier, who headed home Ryan Ponti’s cross to put the visitors ahead and leave Nigeria facing an early setback on home soil. The Super Eagles eventually found their way back into the contest shortly before the break.
George Ilenikhena, also making his senior international debut, restored parity after combining with Alex Iwobi before calmly finishing the opportunity. The goal sent Nigeria into the interval level and gave the hosts renewed belief heading into the second half.
Usor then delivered the moment that settled the contest. After being released into space by Semi Ajayi’s headed pass, the winger drove towards the penalty area, evaded two defenders and cut inside before firing a left-footed effort into the bottom corner.
The quality of the finish immediately caught Oshoala’s attention, with the former Barcelona star taking to X to praise the youngster. Her reaction added another layer to what was already a memorable night for Usor, whose first competitive appearance for Nigeria ended with his first senior international goal and a winning contribution.
The victory handed Nigeria three points from their opening AFCON 2027 qualifier and gave coach Eric Chelle a winning start to the campaign. For Usor, however, the night could prove to be the beginning of a new chapter with the Super Eagles after announcing himself on the international stage in spectacular fashion.
