Moses Simon has officially joined Nigeria’s exclusive 100-cap club after making his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles in Friday’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The milestone comes more than 11 years after the Paris FC winger made his senior international debut.
Simon made his Nigeria debut on March 25, 2015, against Uganda, coming on as a 59th-minute substitute for Anthony Ujah. Since then, he has established himself as one of the country’s most experienced attacking players, featuring in major tournaments and several AFCON and World Cup qualifying campaigns. Before Friday’s fixture, the 31-year-old had recorded 99 appearances, 64 of them in competitive matches, alongside 11 goals according to the latest NFF figures.
The landmark appearance makes Simon only the fifth Nigerian footballer to reach 100 senior international caps, joining Ahmed Musa, Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama and Alex Iwobi in the exclusive group. Musa remains Nigeria’s most-capped player, while Yobo and Enyeama both finished their international careers with more than a century of appearances. Iwobi became the fourth member of the club earlier in 2026.
Simon’s century represents more than a number, highlighting his longevity and consistency with the national team since his breakthrough in 2015. His international career has included appearances at Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and World Cup qualifying campaigns, while his pace, direct running and ability to contribute in attack have made him a regular part of the Super Eagles setup across different generations.
With his 100th appearance now secured, Simon becomes the latest member of an elite group that represents more than a decade of service to Nigerian football. His next target will be to add to his century as the Super Eagles continue their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, beginning with a crucial away fixture against Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
