Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable start to life in Turkey, scoring for the seventh consecutive league game as Bursaspor were held to a 2-2 draw by Esenler Erokspor on Sunday.
The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in the 16th minute at the Atatürk Spor Kompleksi Matlı Stadium, extending his extraordinary scoring streak since joining Bursaspor. Mikail Okyar equalised two minutes later, but Lincoln restored the hosts’ advantage in the 20th minute before Yusuf Erdoğan levelled for the visitors early in the second half.
Iheanacho’s latest effort takes his league tally to nine goals in seven appearances, while he has also provided two assists during his explosive start to the campaign. He has now found the net in every league appearance since arriving at Bursaspor, building on his brace in the previous 2-1 victory over Manisa FK.
Despite dropping two points at home, Bursaspor remain top of the Trendyol 1. Lig with 16 points after seven matches. The club’s impressive start has been driven in large part by Iheanacho’s goals, with the former Leicester City and Celtic forward quickly emerging as one of the division’s standout players.
The next test will be a major one. Bursaspor travel to face joint leaders Batman Petrolspor on September 19 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Batman Yeni Şehir Stadium. With both sides currently on 16 points, Iheanacho will be central to Bursaspor’s hopes of maintaining their position at the summit and continuing their push for promotion.
