Ajibade Breaks Silence After Injury Scare Against Comoros

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has broken her silence after sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg of their 2028 Olympic qualifiers.

The Atlético Madrid Femenino forward was stretchered off in tears during the match at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. In a statement released afterwards, Ajibade confirmed that scans and medical consultations are ongoing, with further updates to be provided when available.

“I also want to address the incident that happened to me during the 2nd leg against Comoros. Scans and medical consultations are ongoing and more updates will be shared when available. At the moment, I am doing okay and my spirits are high,” she said.

Ajibade expressed gratitude for the support received from teammates, family, technical and medical staff, and fans, while describing it as an honour to lead the Super Falcons in their Olympic qualification campaign. She praised the team’s unity, discipline and commitment throughout the international window.

“For now, my focus is on recovery and returning stronger for club and country,” she added.

The Super Falcons completed a 7-0 aggregate triumph over Comoros to advance to the third round of the Olympic qualifiers, where they will face Morocco in a two-legged tie scheduled between February 23 and March 6, 2027. Attention now turns to Ajibade’s recovery ahead of that high-stakes clash.
